The Daihai Energy Storage Power Plant, a groundbreaking project developed and constructed by Jingneng Power, has successfully been connected to the grid. The facility is powered by 192 MC Cube-T Energy Storage System (ESS) units from BYD Energy Storage, offering a robust total capacity of 300MW/1200MWh. To overcome the challenges posed by the harsh desert terrain, Gobi desert, and barren lands, BYD provided a tailored energy storage solution designed to perform optimally in extreme environmental conditions.
Located in Liangcheng County, Ulanqab City, in Inner Mongolia, the project had to contend with severe weather patterns, including extreme cold, high winds, and sandy terrain, which made construction particularly challenging. To ensure the reliability and efficiency of the installation, BYD leveraged its cutting-edge Blade Battery technology for energy storage, as well as its CTS (Cell to System) solutions. The MC Cube-T ESS exhibited excellent adaptability, reliability, and performance, enabling smooth integration with the power grid.
The MC Cube-T ESS’s modular structure is one of its key strengths, offering five major advantages: ease of layout, transport, installation, maintenance, and scalability. The system’s flexible design allows it to be transported as individual components or as pre-assembled units, overcoming any weight-related transportation challenges. Installation is simplified, requiring only a small crane, which significantly reduces complexity and time on-site.
Additionally, the system’s plug-and-play functionality and remote commissioning capabilities have boosted installation efficiency by 80%. These advanced features helped streamline the entire process, cutting the average time for DC-side on-site work from 90 days to just 47 days. As a result, the Daihai Energy Storage Power Plant achieved full-capacity grid connection by the end of the year, setting a new standard for energy storage solutions in some of the world’s most extreme environments.
