On February 25, BAK Battery live-streamed the industry debut of its new cylindrical lithium battery—PRO-M High-Safety Battery (18650, 21700). The product not only meets the new national standards GB43854-2024 Safety Technical Specifications for Lithium-Ion Batteries for Electric Bicycles and GB40559-2024 Safety Technical Specifications for Lithium-Ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Electric Balance Scooters and Skateboards, but also achieves a dual upgrade in safety and performance, with multi-dimensional cost reduction in materials and processes, providing a more reliable and efficient energy solution for short-distance travel. The launch has attracted significant attention throughout the industry.

Material and Process Innovations: Achieving "Needle-Puncture Resistance" for All-Round Safety

With deep market insights, BAK has consistently grasped the core needs of end-users—safety and performance. The PRO-M high-safety battery passes the industry’s most stringent needle-puncture test: Experimental results show no smoke, thermal runaway, or other issues during the test. The PRO-M battery fully meets the safety performance requirements of GB43854-2024 and GB40559-2024.

To ensure stable energy release under extreme conditions, the PRO-M high-safety battery utilizes high-temperature-resistant composite cathode materials with stable structures at high temperatures; composite coatings are added to enhance the heat resistance of the separator; a highly stable electrolyte is used to effectively suppress side reactions at the interface, thus improving battery safety and durability. Additionally, improvements in slurry preparation, coating, and other processes have led to high-quality electrode sheets, enhancing battery consistency. This results in high-current charge and discharge, long cycle life, and high safety performance.

Comprehensive Performance Enhancement with Over 1,000 Cycles of Lifetime

Moreover, both batteries feature excellent performance in wide temperature ranges and long cycle life, with stable discharge in the range of -30℃ to 70℃ and a cycle life of over 1,000 times.
